Maintain all electrical and electronic equipment on aircraft
The Job
Aircraft Technicians (Avionics) are responsible for the electronics on board all our aircraft. This can include sophisticated cockpit technology, such as radar, communications, navigation and weapon controls. It also includes vital systems that operate throughout the aircraft, such as flight control and engine control wiring.
The Training
The RAF’s technician training earns you a National Engineering Certificate at Level 3 and an Advanced Apprenticeship, including an NVQ Level 3. Whatever your skills when you join, you can be sure of getting valuable training in a specialist trade.

Category: Airmen/airwomen
Usual service: 9 years
Open to: men or women
Qualifications: 3 GCSEs/SCEs at Grade C/3 minimum or equivalent in English language, maths and an approved science/technology-based subject
Nationality: British citizen since birth or holder of dual British/other nationality
